Under water lights

We are looking to install underwater led white lights on our lagoon 450.

On our last boat we used dr led Neptune white lights. 500 lumen.

Dr. LED Through-Hull Mounted Underwater LED Light

The lights were decent.

I wonder if anyone has experience with other brands or other recommendations.

Warren

Re: Under water lights

I'm not a huge fan of adding holes in our hull, but I've learned to at least inquire before dismissing things outright!

Where did you install your lights, and were there any issues (leaks, damage during haul-outs...)?

The Lumitec Seablaze X underwater lights are a great choice.

Re: Under water lights

Macris makes a very flat low profile series of lights. Google Macris.

Re: Under water lights

Go to eBay, put in your search and then when you get your results, click on the filters on the left hand side for a search of only Asia. You will get all the Chinese makes. They are often just as good and a third of the price.

Re: Under water lights

We decided on the seablaze 3 white light.

The current flow on the higher lumen lights is more than I am interested in.

Hi Warren,

I've gone for these:

I didn't want color changing and they are a good price.

Re: Under water lights

I'll put 1 on each transom facing aft to start and most likely look to add 2 up forward under the tramps later

Handy when night diving. Help to locate the boat too.

Re: Under water lights

We installed sea blaze lights on our boat. Put them as low as possible. When anchored close to a reef at night the show is on with rays, squid (cuttle fish ) and all sorts of fish swimming of the back of the boat. Really cool.

Re: Under water lights

It is t bling on a sailboat - maybe 50 of them on a super yacht - bling! I love sitting on back of the boat and watch the fish. We had two pretty serious sharks playing in the lights at Wardwick Wells... two smallish (6') tigers hanging out in the dark and then zooming in by the lights.

Also - great way to see what kind of bottom it is when anchoring at night with the front lights.

Re: Under water lights

Underwater lights are a terrific addition. I intend to add them to my boat. I've installed them on a number of my customers' boats. With stern lights you create a non-blinding illumination around the boat for man overboard recovery, retrieving a dinghy, coming into a dock, improving your chances fishing at night, and making your boat stand out in dark places, say if you are requesting aerial assistance or want a tow boat to single you out in a crowded anchorage.

Re: Under water lights

I will be hauling out in a month and plan to add the boat bling. These Macris LEDs are only .29in thick and require a 3/8 hole for wires. They are suitable for the running surface, unlike many of the larger lights that are supposed to mount on a transom.

Roy, check these out.
