They Have started t0 build my boat

Back from SA today after a wonderful trip spoilt a bit at the end by the stealing of video equipment from my airline baggage in Jo'berg - did you know that if a lens is stolen that has no electronic parts or connections there is no compensation because it can attached to an electronic device - also because its glass its not covered because it can break - even though it was stolen? Just thought I would pass these amusing gems onto you all - the only thing that took the edge away from a fantastic trip to a fantastic place.

We have a lot of video to edit and post incliuding that of what appears to have been the worst storm for about 40 years or so at St Francis that flooded homes, destroyed dozens of pontoons and even sank a large fishing boat inside its own harbour.....!!! This makes a fairly dramatic start to the video which deals in detail with the St Francis. The video will however follow on from the Leopard 46 which is featured will be out within about ten days.

They started on my boat this last week - I have the first few stills to post.

Spent 6 days at St Francis making decision after decision. The boat will feature a full scale video studio in an after cabin - the bed comes out and the engine cover forms part of one table. The video will take you through each part of the boat and after some requests Lesley does the interviewing of Duncan and some yard staff. The video should be about 30 minutes long and will be posted in about 4 band width options.

I could not be more pleased with Duncan, his staff and the open manner in which business is conducted.

The idea was to post a series of videos but as it seems stolen luggage is very much part of the SA scene and theft does not even appear to be investigated, future video will depend on what assurances I can get from taking future video equipment out there.

Anyway that is is just a quick report - much more info to follow.

Great to hear that and sorry for the stolen video equipment

It would have been very nice to see the footage, maybe later on we'll get to see some.

Best,

The footage was all in my carry on luggage and is safe - you will be seeing a lot of it over the next few weeks.

Great that you mostly had a good trip, and got to work with nice trustworthy people....

You can insure "tools and spareparts" through a company insurance. We have people travelling all over the place with rather expensive kit, and have an all risk policy covering the kit.

If you have a gold/platinum Eurocard, they offer extra coverage as standard (here at least) so maybe check it out. The normal IATA coverage is lousy...

Hope this helps
