I just saw a post from Bob and didn't want to hijack his post so I have created a new thread. He was proposing a shared
catamaran purchase which I have been considering for a while. For the right people, I think the sharing
concept has a lot of merit. I have skippered and owned a variety of
boats including a Whitby 42. Our
current boat is a
Dufour 41
Ketch that we have converted to full
solar electric.
We are committed to a
catamaran for our next vessel but we are facing two challenges:
1. the
price for a good 38-42 footer is slightly high for us; and
2. most of the cats are in the
Med or the
Caribbean. I can take 2-3 months off
work but not a full year.
We would be very interested in co-purchasing something in the
Med,
Caribbean,
Mexico or
South Pacific, going on some adventures and then coming back to B.C. or
Washington State. If anyone else is in a similar situation, please let me know.
