Re: Prout Snowgoose 35 opinions

Thanks Atoll, that makes sense and I think there are a few other P35’s out there with hydraulic fitted somehow. Quick question if I may, the boat currently has a steering box in the rear beam with two adjustable bars attached to it, one going to the outboard end of each rudder (pic attached). Would you suggest this setup is retained but with the steering box swapped out for a pivoting point that the bars and hydraulic ram attach to, or lose all of that and have a ram to each rudder? Losing all the bars and such would make dinghy access much easier but something about not having a solid collection between the rudders worries me for some (probably unjustified) reason.

I really like the set-up on the Elite where the steel tie bar is in the cross beam but would converting the rudders to have internal steering arms be feasible?

Many thanks

i'm not entirely familiar with the set up you have, but if you ever have to use the emergency tiller you want the rudders to be linked with a tie bar,and some way of disengaging the steering box or ram.

twin hydraulic rams would work, but probably best to go with a single ram in the place of the steering box as access is probably easier.
