Norfolk Area Haulout
Hi -
I need to haul a 27' BOA trimaran in the Norfolk, Va. area. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks

Re: Norfolk area haulout
Mike,
I have used Ocean Marine a few times in the last couple years. If I remember correctly, they charge $150 for a haulout, pressure wash, and re-splash. They don't charge to block the boat up or for storage as long as you are having work done at the yard. The major drawback is that they don't let you do your own work. You can get away with doing interior work yourself, and they will let some things slide on the weekend as well, but you need to clear it in advance with the maint manager. I've always had good experiences with them.

Cutty Sark Marina in Norfolk seems good. You can do whatever you want on your own. In Ocean View by Littlecreek. $11 a foot haul out, block and pressure wash. Oh yeah and best Salty Bar in Norfolk right at yard!

Ti' punch -
Thanks for the info.
jacob30 - Cutty sark does indeed have a great bar/restaurant, but I don't believe they can do a 27' beam. Thanks though.

Re: Norfolk area haulout
I don't think Cutty Sark can handle a 27 ft beam, and while Ocean marine could haul that width on their platform, I'm guessing the price you mention would be for their travelift, which I don't think is near big enough.
Davis Boatworks is the only one (other than a railway) I know in the Tidewater area that can haul a trimaran that wide.

Check out Janney marine in Reedville. They use a ramp and hydraulic trailer system.

Re: Norfolk Area Haulout
Just a FYI, In the Hampton Roads area, if anyone runs into issues hauling out, such as a wood boat which some refuse to touch, go to Marina Cove Boat Basin off Harris Creek Road right next to Langley AFB in Hampton.
Erlin will haul you out, at 10$ per foot price includes both in and out and $5 per day storage.
I tried at Sarah's Creek and he refused to haul. A lot of places are refusing older wood boats.

Double-Wide -
Thanks, I am planning on hauling at Jayne's. Hope y'all are doing well, we met briefly in Exuma a few years ago when I was on board my ex's cat FreeStyle. With any luck you'll be seeing me soon on a tri named Mandolin.
Did you ever put the name on Double-Wide's dinghy?
Mike

Re: Norfolk Area Haulout
Are you guys talking about Jennings Boatyard in Fairport, near Reedville? Or is Janney's some other place.
