What if we promise not to hound you?

I, for one, am extremely interested in why you decided to switch to a monohull.

TWIN-FUSELAGE Japanese warplane with in-line engines. Was it a what-if fake or a true industrial project?

I currently own, and have for 27 years, a C&C 40. I am actively looking for a catamaran for cruising. It is proving to be a much more difficult task than I first imagined. Why change from a mono-hull to a multi? Better live aboard space, sailing flat, and if you keep one light; the thrill of speed under the right conditions. I don't consider one better than the other....just different. Some times different is fun.

well, I'm happy to go backchannel (PM) with you, but certain participants on these threads have construed my thoughts on the subject to signal a broader moderator-wide conspiracy against multihulls. Silly, aint it?

Don't know about the Japanese version ; but the (American) Lockheed P-38 Lightning was certainly no fake.

Monohull, simply because that's what I'm used to and I prefer traditional. As far as the lottery prize, Ted Hood’s Expedition 50; it's capacities, range, construction, attention to detail and beauty. I saw this boat at the boat show">Annapolis Boat Show and it is first class all the way.

I liked the "hullier than thou" comment which I missed the first time.

Trust me, the "team" is putting in triple overtime on these threads now, and we won't allow it to happen. Feel safe to post Scott.

You could probably get Kanter Yachts to build a nice 50' aluminum monohull. That would be an awsome world cruiser. www.kanteryachts.com

Typing about Ted Hood. How about a sweet boat called American Promise built for Dodge Morgan?

I would buy Craig's Voyage 50 ft Mayote if it was still for sale. "Silent Faith" has been our favorite cat at the Miami Boat Show for the past two years.

I have to dispute the 'traditional' tag when applied to monohulls. I'm pretty certain the Polynesians and other South Pacific people who first went sailing didn't think... 'I know, let's hang a load of lead off the bottom' when they needed to keep their canoes upright. They thought... 'I know, let's strap another canoe alongside. That'll keep it upright.'

Polynesians were not the first sailors. The oldest recovered boat hull was a mono hull. It's dated around 7000 to 8000yrs old. The oldest currently known boat is also a Mono hull and is dated around 9000yrs. Many other cultures through time used boats that were all mono. The first known double hulled boat was used around 500 AD.
But I imagine it was availability of materials, plus the sea's sailed that determined the original designs.
