Multihull Haulout in Florida

Can anybody recommend a yard that can safely haulout a 24' 4" catamaran in South Florida?

We can't go under fixed bridges under 70' either.

We would prefer a yard where we can both work ourselves and contract work.

Try Lauderdale Marine, up the New River. I think they can handle you.

In South Florida, Lauderdale Marine Center is probably the only marina that meets all your requirements. All the bridges between the Everglades class "A" inlet are opening bridges. They will allow you to work and/or live on your boat yourself. They will handle a 24' beam. They have power, showers and water. They don't have any drainage, so you can't really use the plumbing on your boat. They also can get pretty well booked around the boat show times. The other issue as I see it is, they are expensive.

You'll have to go out on the big lift, That is something like $12 per foot and they charge you for 1.5 times the footage for catamarans. They do the same for the lay days. It can get a little expensive. You also have to buy any chemicals you put below the waterline from them.

It looks like we can get hauled out for less than half the price here, in La Ceiba, Honduras (< $ 9/ft in/out/3days). Therefore, even though we could have waited a few months, we'll probably do it here.

BTW, we are 46ft long and 24'4" wide.

You tweaked my interest. In La Ceiba are you having them do any work?
We just priced out a haul-out and bottom job here in Florida but we are headed that way in a few months...Maybe we could wait and save ourselves some of that precious cruising kitty. Do you have an address or number for them?
As for Florida...if you should haul it out here, we just sailed down and took a peak at Bob and Annies in Pine Island. What a great place to haul out! Half the fun is getting there!

We had them scrape all the old antifouling: very good job for a very good price.
All fiberglass work was good and reasonnably priced.

Also had some seals changed on the sail drive by a local mecanic: total failure, it started leaking as soon as we were back in the water, which is why we need to haulout again here, in FL.

The haulout itself, at La Ceiba, was very professional and cost about the same as in the States.

Craig, have they hauled your Voyage 500 there? I could not find any info on their website about haulouts. We are currently having a Voyage 500 built in SA. Expect to sail her back to the Virgins in Dec.

Have you guys hauled out in Rockharbor yet? If so, what did you think? We are still hunting for a good place to haul this winter where we can do some of our own work. Those marinas are getting hard to find.

Not yet Greg, and may pass on the haul out till Sept. Their number is 305-852-2025 name is Sam. Wish I was in Spanish Wells where I can get Sea Hawk Islands 44 paint (good stuff) but not allowed here. They make it over by you. Leaving with boat for Stuart next week and will come back Dec. You guys come see me there. Craig
