Marina in Jacksonville

Hi all.

Would anyone know of a marina in Jacksonville that can take a catamaran measuring 50 feet by 25 feet wide? We're looking for a place we can keep the boat for a month or so, and we will be living aboard for most of that time.

Thanks.
Paul.

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

I'm at seafarers marina. The way the docks were built don't allow catamarans normally but they have one space open at the end of the dock you might fit. Its a residential area so it's best if you have a car since there aren't many stores nearby.

Port 32 at Ortega Landing - https://www.ortegalanding.com

We are currently there in our cat that is 45x25. Not sure if they have an open slip, but they definitely have slips that can accommodate your size. Recommend checking them out.

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

Thanks for your quick response, Dave. I just spoke to Nikki, and she has a spot for us. They don't do reservations, but if we start paying for the slip before the rush in November, we should be good to go.

I'd like to keep the thread open, as it would be prudent to have options, in case they fill up before we start paying for the dock.

Thanks again.
Paul.

NCOVE. Thanks for your quick response.

They're pretty full up until December. But it's a good back-up marina. Thanks.

Cheers.
Paul.

Ortega River Marina has large some large slips. I do not know if their occupancy situation at the moment. 904-389-1199.

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

Thanks for that Meandercp.

I called Paul, and coincidentally, they're under new ownership as of today. He says availability is usually ok for November, and the new rates will be sorted out soon.

We can get there with our air draft of 73 feet, as Paul said the lowest bridge is 75 feet. We'll double check that, if we need to go there.

Cheers.
Paul.

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

The last bridge you need to pass thru' to reach the marina's listed above is the Fuller Warren Bridge

"the Fuller Warren Bridge is the prestressed-concrete girder bridge that carries Interstate 95 (I-95) ... a main span of 250 feet (76 m), and a vertical clearance of 75 ft (23 m)"

You could also try Beach Marine and Palm Cove Marina on the ICW in J'ville Beach. They'll probably put you on an outside dock.

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

Chart reads a 74’ vertical clearance on the Acosta bridge, 2 bridges before the marina

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

Thanks MicHughV, for the bridge and marina info. I'll enquire with those two too.

Thanks SMJ for the charted air draft. I'll have to wait for a low tide. Passing under bridges make me nervous.

Cheers.
Paul.

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

The tidal range in downtown J'ville is not much...2-2.5' or thereabouts. You'll need to consult the tide book.

The marina's I mentioned before, Beach Marina and Palm Cove Marina have two 65' bridges in your way....sorry....

There are two other marina's near the J'ville ferry on the St. Johns River that don't have bridges to worry about. One on the north side and one on the south side.
I think the north side one is St Johns Boat Company, and the south one is Morning Star Marina

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

make that "three" 65' bridges in your way.

If you're coming in from the ocean, which I presume you will be with your air draft, try Comanche Cove Marina in St. Augustine, which is about 30 miles south of J'ville. There are some other marina's there, but I don't know their names. The city of St. Augustine has a city marina in down town St.A. There is one lift bridge in your way, but they will have space for you.

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

The first 65’ bridge I see is at Plummer’s Point, about 7 miles south of Jacksonville on the St Johns? I’m thinking it would be possible to make it to the Ortega River with his air draft?

Re: Marina in Jacksonville

Plummer's Point is way south....by Orange Park...that is the I-295 bridge, and yes, it is 65' clearance, but the marina's listed above are several miles north of this bridge.
