Haul out San Carlos/Guaymas, Mx

Sorry if this has already been addressed. I'm new to the forum and wasn't able to find any pertinent recommendations. I want to haul out my 45' Cat for hurricane season in San Carlos/Guaymas. I have a 24' beam 19 tons. I also need to get annual maintenance performed and gelcoat repair. I suffered some damage from hurricane Norma in La Paz this past fall. Any recommendations for a good yard where I can get work done and store the boat?

Old information, but we hauled out our LN35 mono in Guaymas in 1994 at the shipyard. They have big cranes and haul commercial fishing vessels.
They picked up our 20,000++ boat as if it was nothing.
Not sure what the beam limit would be.

Why not call or email them in Guaymas and San Carlos?

Pretty sure they speak English if you don't speak Spanish.

Not sure about the gel-coat repairs. From what I've read in Google reviews on various marinas is paying outside help to do work is pretty hit or miss. Good luck with everything.

San Carlos hauls on a trailer - I doubt they can do your cat. Guaymas hauls on a travellift. They can. There are some that do glasswork - but you step up and you take your chances. Ask around to see if anyone gets good recommendations.

Don't know about Guaymas, but the office at San Carlos speaks excellent english

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Keeping in mind that Guaymas/San Carlos are in the hurricane belt you may want to consider Astillero Cabrales in Puerto Penasco.

Re: Haul out San Carlos/Guaymas, Mx

We were just in San Carlos yard two weeks before Christmas and they had a large trimaran in the yard that they moved out; they may have just lifted the center hull I didn't see it go out.

The office speaks fairly decent English and should be able to answer the questions you have regarding their ability to haul your vessel. The yard and the marina are owned and run by the same family. The marina office is referred to as 'San Carlos Marina' and the yard office is 'Marina Seca San Carlos'. This number will get you the marina office but they can transfer you to the yard.

+52.622.226.1061.

FWIW - San Carlos and Guaymas are just north of 27* and are acceptable storage areas for our insurance - Jackline Policy through Markel USA. We have kept our boat there a couple of times over hurricane season.

Just know that Cabrales is 95% DIY yard. Poncho does pretty good work there. I had a bit of topside paint repaired by him and am pretty pleased with what he did but he is spread pretty thin.

They can haul you, but call soon, they are filling up fast.
