Hatches and Portholes

We have tried many hatches and portholes and so far the best we have used are the Moonlight from BSI.
Hatches from Gebo leak and no warranty , Lewmar gets crazing very fast and Weavers are very hard to open and close , anybody has any suggestions for a fantastic CE approved lightweight hatch and porthole ?

I know some very good CE approved heavy hatches. For light weight you may be better served molding your own?

You are probably right , we do that already with the closed hatches but the deck hatches are another thing , we are now talking to a company to make us carbon fiber framed deck hatches but the cost !!!

If you did choose a carbon fiber hatch frame wouldn't it be too delicate to pull and rebed should it start to leak?

Fastcat, I have Moonlight hatches on my Solaris and am in the process of replacing them with Lewmars. The handles/latches on the Moonlights are very poorly constructed - my first clue (apart from the relatively flimsy feel) was the number of spares that came with my boat.

I am not sure about quicker crazing on the Lewmars, but do note that their newer models are designed to permit owner replacement of the window.

Tried Rhigo? Though they are probably too heavy for your lightweight flying machines

The website http://www.bsi-dk.dk is not accessible.

The plexiglass broke and I have to replace it.

looks like there will always be a splash of water waiting for you by opening a flush mount hatch.

Not that I don't believe you, but all the Lagoons I've seen had raised hatches. Still I would avoid any boat that went for style over practicality. As gonesail pointed out, a splash of water will be waiting. And they'll collect salt.

Its the new Lagoon 400. I agree that there may be a splash of water when opening (maybe). But they also must be tremendously safer for moving about on deck (nothing to trip over).
Ahh tradeoffs.
