Re: FP's new 47 Saona catamaran

I didn't like the fact that the salon would only seat 5 people and was smaller than the galley. But then figured most people would eat outside.
There are a lot of very sharp corners which I don't like.

Yet most of your posts seem to not be about the new FP 47, but about self promotion......

I'm sorry but that swim platform on the fancy lift mechanism looks ripe for jamming at the least opportune time.

Re: FP's new 47 Saona catamaran

Anybody have any thoughts about the helm station?. Seems like if the helmsman needs to get to the side deck quickly he would need to go around the wheel station before you could access the side deck because of the bar on the starboard side of the helm station

I also don't like the center island. Seems like it takes up too much room and is a bruise waiting to happen.

But it's still a beautiful boat

The bulkhead helm is an incredible way to sail for bluewater cruisers. Great visibility, high up out of the way during bad weather, can still be social with the crew below, but most important is that bar you're not so sure of. I'll take a slightly longer walk when the tradeoff is safety. In heavy weather or with weary sailors on night watch, I LOVE that you are safely tucked in like that.

The kitchen Island is there so you have something to lean against while under way. While I disagree with FP's obsession with cost saving sharp corners, the island is very functional to support crew and offer convenient trash and more storage.

I wonder if there isn't an option to lift this out of the way for those moments you want to exit out the side, ....particularly when docking?

I find that a lot of big cats have too big of an open area that need something to grab onto in bumpy weather?

I saw a few of those myself on the video.

Lagoon or FP claim rounded/square corners on big production catamarans is 99.9% decided on design. Once you have the proper equipment to manufacture a part, it doesn't cost much more to make

You don't dock from behind the wheel, as you can easily access throttles from the space between the steering station and the bulkhead

The lift platform is optional and over €30,000.

You can have regular davits.

Good point, I had not taken notice of where the throttle/shift controls were placed.

I guess doing it from the side deck could also be done if one want to face forwards

For instance have a look at time 1:03-1:07 in that walk thru video.

I think that sharp corner exist in the passage staircase down into the starboard hull.

Re: FP's new 47 Saona catamaran

And the coffee table at shin level is all right angles and sharp corners. I'd say just buy a router and some sandpaper when you buy the boat to round everything off, but I'm 99% sure that's particle board laminated furniture. Not until you hit Outremer level pricing would I imagine you get foam-cored wood furniture for beauty and weight savings.

This is still my favorite boat right now though.

Can anyone post the price sheet that verifies the lift platform is an option and not standard? Seems strange to never show a davits in any marketing marmaterials if that is the base version.

Re: FP's new 47 Saona catamaran

According to the sales people in LGM, FP sold 65 (info of last Friday).
If you order one now it will be a October 2018 delivery.

Cheers Rob

Re: FP's new 47 Saona catamaran

A new walk-through video is up from LGM...

Anyone find out if the genny is in the forward locker or in one of the engine bays?
