Re: Fountaine Pajot to build hydrogen powered yachts

If there was enough renweable energy awailable, it would not be a problem to convert that H2 into methanol, that you can store the same way as Diesel today.
You could use a fuel cell to covert it back to electricy or burn it in an engine.
Thing is, there is not yet enough renewable energy around to do so.
I still think, that batteries will be the future for mobility, especially recreatonal.

OK Guys, diesel is great. I have had 4 diesel boats and thought they were great too.

This should not be the reason to decry other solutions as we seek ways to make the world a better place.

The question is, is this a genuine attempt to make the world a better place, or just a company wanting to LOOK like they are?

Assuming you aimed this at FP, I really don't care why they did it but I bet they are just trying to sell more boats. If it is a bit of virtue signaling well I guess I just want them to back it up by trying their best and learning from it.

Honestly, most of us don't believe there is a miraculous solution out there just waiting for someone to build it but rather see it as evolutionary in a great way where we try things and morph them to be the best they can be. It is my experience that once barriers and technical problems are identified, we work to remove them and that is a good thing.
