Catana dagger board removal? C47

From the looks of it the boards should be able to come out of the top or drop out of the bottom. Can anyone confirm if pulling them out from above is viable? I imagine the ends should be really cleaned up as to not muck up the trunks. I need to change the lifting lines and up seems easier than finding deep water and dropping them out.

My Farrier and Corsair 36 exited topsides. I’ve not seen a daggerboard drop through (for that very reason), but I’ve also not owned a cat with boards.

Lift the dagger board as high as you can with the normal line and then other 20cm using a halyard. That will give access to the line attachment.when using the halyard don’t forget to give slack on the dagger board line.

2d using the halyard. I have rope handles in the top of my boards. I make the halyard to that, lift board until it’s up to the knot from the regular board-lifting line. Hold the board, untie the board lift line, and either move the halyard from the top or put a 2d halyard, to the knot hole in the board. Lift board the rest of the way out.

To continue, has anyone either upsized the board line from 10mm or gone with a spyder line or dynemma? The 10mm that I’m planning to replace is stretched significantly. It could be just be age, but the more I look at it the more I’m thinking a tech line or 7/16 could be a superior solution. Love to hear others experience.

I downsized my lines when I changed them to Warpspeed, to the smallest I and the system could handle

I upsized to 10 mm. Works better on the winches and my hands.
