Correct. Garmin units require Garmin charts.

Hi Miss and fellow sailors, we purchased a Salina 48 FP cat and picked it up in La Rochelle in 2012. We have had a great experience, although agree that final bits and pieces at hand over are slow. Remember that the businesses all close in the middle of the day for upto 2-3hours! We learned to be patient. We have changed our travel insurance to PeopleSure as they allowed us longer trips. We work still and our boat is left in a Marina somewhere month aboutish.
Do the Northern coast of Spain if you can, I read someone was considering it, we loved it. But we had never travelled before we picked up Bijoux and so we are just a pair of dumb Bogans with our mouths agape!
We are going back to Bijoux for a couple of months at the end of March, travelling Valencia, Balearics, Corsica, Sardinia, Italian coast of some description and Sicily and Tunisia.
On the Multihull Solutions' website I posted lots of lists translated (dodgy) into French, Kitchen, hardware, chandlery etc and addresses of places that we liked to shop if you want to have a look there.
We use weather 4D on our ipads for Grib files. I use Garmin for route planning on my ipad and my huspand uses Navionics on his. I use Garmin because it gives me access to the 'active captain' reviews and I am the one that says where we are going. Mr Bijoux picks when!
Otherwise have a great time and perhaps we will see each other on adventure.

We are newbies of the first water! Never sailed before we decided to buy Bijoux.

As near as we can tell, the same card is available (eBay et.al.) for ~A$200, but we're open to any reasonable offer...and of course it'd be very easy to ship anywhere.

I seem to be taking one step forwards two steps back trying to get registration sorted out.
Just been asked for these forms, "application for registration, declaration of ownership and registered agent forms".

Does anyone know where to find them? I'd love to get links to the correct forms if possible, there's so many out there if you search for these.

If you're talking about Australian Registration, just phone AMSA. We found them to be quite helpful.

That is a big question as it took many months (years really) to get to the buying process.
Catana was on the list as it had sailing pedigree and appealed on many safety features but it was an open race to buy for a long time.

When we went to the boat show to look at new cats we were still undecided on how we would buy, new second hand and which brand. All major brands where considered, Seawind, Leopard, Lagoon and Catana. Prior to show and after we spent a great deal of time on other boats in on the second hand market as well.

When I went on the Catana I just feel in love with the sum total. I loved the space, the colour and decor, quality, the size of the boat for two to handle. It was a bit like going into a open home and deciding that this was the home for us. The Catana was overall better on every level except the bed layout.


Boat shows do sell boats. I walked away from the show going I want that boat so what do I have to do (besides selling my children) to have her...
Once we saw the second hand prices compared to buying new we decided "Bugger it, you only live once" so threw everything into living the dream as best we could.

I know this is not as technical as you may hoped but by the time we were at buying stage it was more about what felt right and what we could achieve. I had to imagine myself on the boat as my home and then be safe and fast enough for my husband to sail. He would say most important was sailability, quality of boat, safety and dagger boards a big plus.

Hope your plans are going well. I was wondering if anyone has used the online MMSI form? We did this last week for our DSC fixed VHF, handheld DSC VHF and our AIS but haven't heard back yet. Any idea how long it takes AMSA to allocate the numbers?
