Tank replacement on Polaris - instead of big one consider 2 smaller (10K sounds way too much)
Offer very aggressively. Of course the Devil hides in details but I would start $30K on Union and consider $35K
For Tayana... New engine of 2006 is NOT new engine - better then original one for sure. I would agree on $40- $42K - no dollar more.
But I would just wait for Tayana, Baba, Cape Dory, Union with no teak deck.
Just don't to get emotionally attached.
Thx for the advice concerning the negotiation. We can try that and passed if we don't get what we want. But as you know there is always a lot of emotion in a boat or you would not buy any. We saw a lot of boats and none really raised much interest to us. These 2 directly did. The same happened when we bought the Tartan after seeing so many others...hard to keep the emotion out.

Another thing.. Ask for records of maintenance. Normally brokers never have them and ask direct contact with the owner if you have (you should) questions.
Also.. don't know if it feasible bring a surveyor for couple hours work to view both boats - you might get some different perspective..
If you have two boats you like - you are in the good position to negotiate. Good luck! I am really eager to jump into the process - just not there yet.

Yes that is what we think. Since we like both understanding their inconvenient we have some leverage...we hope so
