Racer/cruiser: X Yachts X4.6 vs Arcona 465 Carbon

I'm still a few years away from buying my own boat, but I've been giving a lot of thought to what I want to be able to do with any boat I buy long-term. Its most frequent use would be day sailing the SF bay and trips down to Monterey and back, but I also have dreams of doing a race like the Pacific Cup. With that in mind, I'm looking at boats that would be comfortable for 2-4 people to live aboard for a week or two, and could hold their own (definitely no aspirations of winning) in a race like the Pac Cup. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on these two boats, as well as recommendations for other comparable boats to look at.

In particular, the Arcona is interesting to me, as it has the option of being outfitted with an Oceanvolt electric propulsion system instead of a diesel engine. This would also serve as a hydrogenerator when sailing, so it could cover power generation needs in a race like the Pac Cup without having to install solar panels or a wind generator. It could be backed up by a diesel generator if needed.
