Pros and cons of dinghy garages

I'm considering getting a new boat, and many of the options I'm looking at come with dinghy garages big enough for a decent-sized dinghy, around 3.6 meters.

I haven't used one before, so I'm curious about how practical they are. I can imagine it might be challenging or even impossible to use them in rough seas.

The reason I'm thinking about this is that I struggled to store my dinghy on the davits today in a 1-meter sea.

It was a terrible experience. I wonder if using a dinghy garage would have been better or worse.

Has anyone had any experiences or stories to share about using dinghy garages?
