New Contest 40

Hey Yall,
I posted earlier asking for some advice on different boats and how to go about searching for a boat.

Wellllll, a week ago I pulled the trigger and bought this Contest 40 MkII Hull #1! I just got back from the yard where I put her for the winter.

Over the next few months I have some big jobs to tackle:

Fixing the fiberglass tabbing on the exterior hull/keel joint(it is delaminating)
Fix the splitting in the skeg and rudder

In addition, I'm trying to balance my budget with wanting to have all new, cool stuff.

What I'm coming to realize is that it really comes down to the fact that the boat can sail, and the difference between what I need and what I want is about 30k USD.

I'll post some pictures when I get home but I'm over the moon!

Hey Addy!
Great to meet another Contest 40 owner. Yup, I am American, been living here in Amsterdam for almost three years! I'm really curious what the interiour of your boat looks like. Do you have an oven? Is the steering transmission box also in the way of creating a nice bed in the aft cabin?

Have you ever had to reseal the keel flange? Currently mine is showing a bit of corrosion and I'm debating whether I need to address it now. I've talked with Dick Zaal a little bit over email, and he suggests that it should be done every 15 years or so.

Hi,
As i said we bought her last spring and didn't do much on the underwater yet. We had to replace all the seacocks as they were bad.
There was an oven. I replaced it allready gor a better one. Our bed is high enough to go over the steeringparts. Some previous owner allready increased the hight of it.

Where is your boat now? I would like to ser her and you're welcom to take a look at ours.
