Getting the HIN lettering in the wrong order was a common error in the Taiwan yards. The Latin alphabet was as foreign to them as most foreign alphabets are to anglos. I would be interested in seeing the full HIN. Also, a physical inspection of the HIN on the vessel itself is in order. PM me if you don’t want the world to see.

I’m sorry that I can’t locate my original source for the statement of “exactly 4”.
I just clearly remember how surprised I was to learn it about 15 years ago, and made a mental note of it.
Google isn’t helping.
The full HIN would be very helpful.

Thumbs up Re: Help me identify the boat ( Hans Christian 37???)

Yes it is a Hans Christian!!
I have the same exact boat but it's not a double ender. There were only four of these boats made . They are the prototype for the Christina model. I found one other one for sale at one point and am now very happy to see the third one.
Apparently these are the boats that Bob Perry says he designed but got no credit$ for. I've contacted him when trying to find out if mine was really a HC ,he confirmed that he knew what is was and said if I wanted to know more of the info I'd have to pay him for his time and knowledge. I didn't pay him as he told me what I needed to know but if you get any more info please share ! Thank you

Re: Help me identify the boat ( Hans Christian 37???)

On our boats the SXA prefix of the hull numbers got mixed up and they stamped them in the wrong order compared to what the Hans Christian stamp is supposed to be.

RainaBeach,
Thanks a lot for the input!
Could you share your experience with your boat?
Contraction quality, sailing performance etc..
Thanks!

Re: Help me identify the boat ( Hans Christian 37???)

Hi Ruso,

I'm looking at this same boat now and was trying to research and came across this thread which helped a lot as you would imagine... How serious were you on this boat? Did you get a survey? I have one from 2016, which I imagine is what you mentioned in this thread also. Is there a reason you didn't go with this boat or anything that stood out?

Thanks for any input!

Shane

Re: Help me identify the boat ( Hans Christian 37???)

Hi Raina!

I am looking at the same boat that Ruso was talking about in this thread. To follow up on his questions about your boat - Are you happy with it? Anything that stands out as a big positive or negative in sailing / quality / construction / etc? Any input is appreciated!

Thanks,

Shane

Shane,
I am considering her without emotional attachment or high desire. If someone buys her I will not loose night sleep.
My concern is "prototype" build - paying high price is questionable.
Also on 2016 survey (in Europe) mentioned something about no shower and shower sump.
Nanny diesel parts ( how much the diesel is Kubota?)
What has been done since 2016 is crucial - my impression is not much.

Re: Help me identify the boat ( Hans Christian 37???)

Thanks! Didn't think you were still considering since the first post was in November. Looks like you are in Arizona? I am in Vallarta and am going to try to go by and see it in person in the next few days if I can arrange it. I'm really just starting to look, so unless it is obviously the right thing it would be hard for me to make a decision to move quickly. If you are still considering it and there is anything that you want me to look for let me know and I will see what I can do.

Re: Help me identify the boat ( Hans Christian 37???)

Shane,
It was exactly my thoughts.. It might be hit or miss.
Is PV fully open? I am sitting a waiting when COVID status clears a little.
Biggest problem is similar boats I am interested like Baba or Tayana has well defined issues and resolutions. With this boat... Who knows. It is unknown who even built her.
Take a look if chainplates accessible.
Walk through deck and see if any delaminations(voids) - they removed teak 4 years ago but how much effort they put into glassing the deck over...
Look closely around mast base. I suspect sump water going into the haul and then to outboard.
What is in the haul under tiller? Some kind of lazarette?
What plumbing status and configuration. How all tanks accessible.
How they handle UK registration termination - it should be part of the sale.
Get the diesel model number, please.
I will send you message with my contact info.
Many thanks
