Talking Help! I Need a New Name for Boat by Monday or Tuesday

I just bought my boat finally. The old boat name is Orion and I want to change it. I don't believe in good luck or bad luck, just fate. "You make your own luck" or "Luck is for losers" so I am not worried about changing the name in that regard. Have to do it by registration time on Monday or Tuesday. Name change other than at transfer of title is $1000.00. Now it is free.

Any ideas for a new boat name. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Panama James

A couple of names I am thinking about are Liliana (after my girl) and Kokomo (remembering the good old days). I had 2 boats before and one was name Scherazade and other Expression. I don't want to use those names.

Remember "First mate then go sailing".

Personally, I like the name Orion. Simple and elegant and pertains to cel-nav. I can understand changing a name if it is something awful, like my buddies boat "Mi-luv." He brought it back to the original name. I wont change my boat's name either, "Walkabout" isnt what I would have named it, but it isnt tacky. Also, think about spelling out the name every time the Coast Guard hails you.

I'll go for a very short name of any kind or a name most anyone understands - so it's a Hunter...call her Deer (unless you don't like the movie)
Some officials you'll try to talk by VHF for docking/bridge/sluicing etc.. like to make it funny for themselves and annoying for you to let you spell the name of your boat. So it is Seherazade ---- eh....what's that you say..can you spell that for me please.

The worst name I ever saw was "I Don't Recall" owned by a Washington insider. Imagine the captain's problem when asked to id the boat by Coast Guard, etc. Name your boat after something that is important to you, even if you don't believe in luck.

Hmmm. I am thinking of changing the name of my boat as well, it's now the "Yo-Hoe" which sounds either like a pirate name, or a derogatory way to call a woman, either way I think it's no go for the Yo-Hoe. I am thinking of the "Wind Hunter".

Nice name and simple. How about the Windjammer? I still like the name James Bond.. Any comments on that anyone.
