Re: Gulfstar 50 Delamination

I've done a lot of work on my boats in that yard, including too much grinding and welding.

It was submerged at least 24" so there will be issues with electrical... But this could be a good boat for someone who wanted a 'Big' boat for less. Look at the inventory. Repowered with a Yanmar, selden boom, etc. Someone did put some love into the boat at one time.

It is a project and there would be an effort to get it in shape. Figure on spending $75k to $100k to turn it into a great cruising monohull.

Just a thought for those who want a project boat and have a few years to work on it.

Re: Gulfstar 50 Delamination

Hey Fightin, was this Gulfstar berthed in Delaware City? There's a GS50 there that's been on the market for over a month. Several buyers have come and gone, they all back out for some reason. If I was closer to the boat I'd inspect it myself. Was the Delam detailed in your Survey?

Re: Gulfstar 50 Delamination

Yes that is the boat in Delaware City. We were hauled out next to it for 2 seasons. If you go back to the beginning of the thread you will find a description of the delamination.

Did she not sell at the last EBay auction?

IMVHO she was worth the bid prices. That said she will need a lot of work and money. But a beautiful spacious boat that would work well for the ICW with its shortish rig.

I know she came to the dock from Lewis under her own power, I caught lines.
