Foiling in Future? Production Boats with Foils

I race in a foiling class and love the boats. But I really don't see it going mainstream any time soon on monohulls. To gain anything you need to be going fast, to go fast you need to reduce weight, and that just isn't going to happen on a monohull cruising boat. Add in how loud and uncomfortable foiling monohulls are and I just can't see it happening.

Big cats however might. The Gunboat G4 and the DNA F4 are making real strides towards foiling on ocean crossing boats. The DNA is making real strides towards a dialed back cruising type of boat with the ability to foil. It's going to be a progresssion, but for anyone sailing a high performance cruising cat now it's probably realistic to think that in 10 years a fouler might be an option.
