Best Bang for the Buck New Blue Water Cruiser Brand $0.5M and Under

Hello, just doing some dreaming and researching.

In your opinion what’s best bang for the buck quality New blue water cruiser capable yacht - capable of sailing around the world in the price range of $500,000 USD and under (out the door price)? For lice aboard and long term ownership.

At $1M obviously the Amel 50 is not a consideration.

Jeanneux and other AWB seems a little cheap and creaky, won’t last long term ownership and many sea crossing, too creaky?
Najad perhaps if you get a really small one?
Sirius 31 footer too small, 35 footer too expensive and still too small?
Elan impression 45.1 (perhaps the best bang for boat brand out there)

What do you guys thinks? Bang for the buck.

Thanks in advance for any thoughtful and insightful replies.

You can have a look at the JPK 39 FC which is a very well built boat and easy to sail:

Or even the 45 if the 39 is too small for you:

500k would get you a 410 Jeanneau not a long range blue water boat. Floor doesn’t creak. There is no teak strips glued to Fibreglass. Doesn’t have the tankage for wandering. In a 2 birth boat you can fit a watermaker but it’s not on the option list. Bluewater Jeanneau is the new 54 & 60. The makeover of the 64 now 65. The Amel is cheaper until you buy options on it.

This may be the most important fact yet. They are called "yachts" for a reason. hopefully the dollar will flip the Euro like back in the 1990s

Will probably have to wait a lot longer rather than go sooner, be willing to spend more of my nest egg, and stay in good physical condition while accomplishing other (less expensive) life goals in the meantime.

thanks for your input. by the way, does your Jeanneau body itself even creak in bigger waves, etc.?

I have hear he AWB's creak in that way, unlike Amel, for example.

Thanks for sharing that info. But I imagine they're going to be a little more expensive than 200-220 000€ + tax??

I though the Elans cost equated to $10,000 per length in feet. so more like $450,000 for 45 footer?

Re: Best Bang for the Buck New Blue Water Cruiser Brand $0.5M and Under

Most people who are in the market for a new blue water cruiser have owned a few boats already and know what to look for. They even have strong opinions about brands, etc. If you are looking for a recommendation, have a look at the Hallberg-Rassy 40C. The yard owner claim it was the best boat they have ever built and he knows blue water boats.

At the end of the day, it is better to find a couple of features that you love about a particular boat and go with that. Only you can make this choice, not us. We are just a bunch of opinionated old salts.

No squeaks or squawks yet.
Great boat. Love the hull build and coach roof design.
