Re: Ahoy Carbineer 46 Owners

Is that York brothers old slipway? If so, I’ve been to a few launching parties at that, they built some fairly large and impressive boats there… until the bridge was built.

Yes it's Yorks . I had to drop my masts to get up here the bridges are too low even the new Pacific Hwy bridge is only 15 m clearance . Without the bridges the slipway would be a thriving buisness, but there are ways of getting around it . It's easy enough to drop masts in Ballina I used Universal Cranes & Cookie came down from the Gold Coast . I am re rigging & re painting my masts anyway.

We are now 6 months into our major refit going slowly. I went back to work hopefully my generator is now out for rebuild. The gearbox back in & fuel tanks resealed. When I left 3 weeks ago the masts were undercoated . The new rigging is all made up waiting. The hull is in perfect condition with no osmosis at all. We have sand blasted her back to gelcoat & repainted with 2 coats of epoxy.

Still moving along slowly . We have removed the old Onan 6.5 kva generator & split the alternator from the Kubota engine. The engine is now getting rebuilt. The alternator is in good condition but will have the windings re varnished & checked over. I sand blasted & painted lots of brackets & pieces today. Tomorrow I'm sanding & painting the box.
