This thread gets harder and harder to read.

Climate change is happening and has been going on since the end of the last ice age.
That's why most of us are not under a 1000 feet of ice now.

So let's move on.
There are a few of us who find this discussion of the Northwest Passage and the impact of climate change valuable. If you're tired of it, feel free to unsubscribe.

Cheers,

Re: Northwest Passage - 2017

In 10,000, it's more likely to be under a mile of ice year round.😊

No. Actually at this point, human caused change has broken that cycle.
Which is a good thing.
And which probably started more than 5000+ years ago with the advent of human agriculture.

My other point is that it makes no difference how many ice breakers are in the Arctic. Etc.

Really Stu - you use Breitbart and Delingpole as an information source? No wonder you neglected to include your source. http://www.breitbart.com/big-governm...ppered-by-ice/

“If we can take two 50ft yachts, image what commercial shipping and commercial fishing can now do.”

Such exploitation could pose a danger to wildlife in the region, Mr Hadow said.

“The sea ice is going – that’s one stress for them – and now there’s a very high risk of additional human threats coming in,” he said.

The Central Arctic Ocean is an area about the same size as the Mediterranean Sea that lies outside the territorial waters of the surrounding countries, which extend 200 miles from their coasts.

Mr Hadow described being able to sail into the area so easily as a "bitter-sweet moment".

The Independent wrote up the attempt as a success.

Two yachts have become the first vessels in history to sail into the Central Arctic Ocean without icebreaker support in a fresh sign of how much sea ice has been lost.
Breitbart belittles the attempt.

Quote:
A sailing expedition to the North Pole to raise awareness of global warming has been forced to turn back, 590 nautical miles short of its destination, after the yachts found their passage blocked by large quantities of an unexpected frozen white substance.
That is the first paragraph of each story.

That is the first paragraph of each story.
Same dierence both say that the expedition stopped about 600 miles short due to ice. Their goal was to make the pole they didnt make it. They failed to meet their goals.

Thanks for the update. You almost restored my faith in you. Then you made that last statement.

Not by volume.

Just barely by extent.
