Crew wanted: New England 2-3 day passage

Looking for 1 or 2 crew to help me bring my new to me 97 Hunter 34 from Warwick R.I to my home port in Boston MA. This can be done in 22-24 hrs non stop @ 5knots avg according to Navionics but I would probably want to stop before Cape Cod canal and go through the canal during daylight hours or divide it in 3 days of 8hrs sailing time to minimize risk will only sail daylight. Sailing experience a plus but not necessary if you can follow directions. Departure date is around April 29

I am interested in crewing. Please contact me at DeerWood9323@yahoo.com.
I crewed on a passage from Portland, Oregon to Anacortes, Washington.

Hello ShelleySailor,
I would love to crew for you on your trip to Boston. I am a retired engineer living in Rye, NH after repatriating from assignments in Europe. I lived in the UK for 3 years and crewed in a 31’ Benateau sailing mostly in the Solent near Portsmouth. I have made two trips across the Channel from the Isle of Wight to Cherbourg.
I am a fit 66 year old, fully vaccinated and looking for crewing opportunities in New England. Please call (978)460-5168 or email at kamimadden01@gmail.com if interested.
Best regards,
Mike Madden

To be honest, I’m a novice sailor, but would very much enjoy and appreciate the experience of a trip like this.
Previously owned a Catalina 25, currently acquiring a Mariner 28. And on the plus side.. it’s only 2.5 hrs back down to Warwick via transit.

Re: Crew wanted: New England 2-3 day passage

As a point of reference take a look at the current charts in Eldridges. Specifically the page on planning for a fair tide past block island.
I’ve left Newport, at 6 knots, on a falling tide. Carried that to buzzards bay and had the incoming tide push me up the bay, and through the canal. After that it’s the long slog past Plymouth and Scituate the home to Marblehead for me.
I’ve left Newport at 2am and been home 18 hours later. That was a speedy trip.

I’ve also done that trip in 2-3 days. Much more relaxing. Still, as you likely know, plan around the currents.

Enjoy!
