Sea of Cortez Winter Sailing

What is the issue with the Northern areas as far as winds and such. I have heard it is near gale?
I am thinking of going into Peurto Penasco to pick up and drop off guests that drive down from Phoenix.
Figuring December thru March trips while I am cruising the lower section.
