Leaving Panama

Good day all,

Can any offer information of the prevailing winds and weather leaving from Panama heading to Fiji in June or late June? I am more interested in the weather around Panama and Easter islands as we are considering going via Easter island due to Visa restrictions. I realise it is late to leave and we need to be safe before November comes and thinking of leaving the boat in Fiji for cyclone season. I also realise the Pacific is currently closed but if it opens I would like to have a plan.

Look forward to your insight.

Regards

Neil

Also see Cornell's World Cruising Routes:

And "Met Bob" is a great resource:

You can subscribe to his email list for very detailed regular Pacific weather updates...its a good way to get familiar with Pacific weather patterns.

Re: Leaving Panama

Don't think Easter island is any different on visas. Also, what if Fiji turns you away? Are you a Fijian citizen? NZ Australian? Sure things will likely "ease" by November, but who knows.

Strictly in the hypothetical, I would go all the way S to Easter island in the winter.
