Cruising Sungai Johore from Singapore

Dear all,

I am going to take my first cruising trip from Singapore to neighboring southern Malaysia.

After going to Sebana Cove as first stop I would like to venture up Sungai Johore.

In one of the cruising guides on the region I have read that remains of an old Malay capital can be found somewhere upstream insight a rubber plantation.

Does anyone have any more details on this?

Also, the Singapore charts for small crafts do not cover Sungai Johore and my Garmin chart does only cover it partially. Does anyone know where I could get reliable charts for this part of southern Malaysia?

Thanks a lot,

Alex

I dont know that there are charts for Sungei Johor. There is enough water for the first 15 miles but there are lots of banks and shallows as well. Use your sounder and be prepared to back out!

Hi Alex,

I did a four month cruise from Sebana up and down the east coast six years ago. Read about it at Malaysia East Coast Cruise 2005

I suggest you download and install the OpenCPN program and use the cm93 charts with it. If you can't find the charts send me a PM and I'll lead you to them. I can also lead you to the many routes we used on that cruise.

Enjoy .. we did.
