Re: This Just Floated Into Seattle

[QUOTE=minaret;1384284]Due to the extreme running costs, almost all of these boats are available for charter. Reduces the amount of time spent on the dock costing money while the owner works.

Tax reductions! Not good.

The good thing is they employ people.

Re: This Just Floated Into Seattle

Saw pics of the inside of Job's boat. Very sleek and ipad/iphonish. Guess one could expect. He was never able to be aboard it as it burned "ruinous amounts of diesel," perhaps underscoring a downside for waiting until later in life to go sailing.

"Someday" is a risky day to count on.

Is this more like it Beverley?

Although I do believe she is currently having trouble with depth here.

Re: This Just Floated Into Seattle

Definitely an improvement. Imagine what it must look like under full sail

Thank you for that.

Re: This Just Floated Into Seattle

We can all gasp, gape and make disparaging remarks about the taste or lack of it displayed by the people who build these things.
But would you rather they just sat on the money and accumulated interest ? The construction, maintenance and staffing of these things liberates billions from bank accounts and of course multiplies as it moves through every economy they visit.
It's not all bad.
The politics of envy don't enrich anyone.

Someone in your town thinks the same of you rich bastards in your yachts poncing around every weekend.

i don't envy them. i wish they didn't have it at all. maybe it would leave more for us poor middle class losers watching the value of their money evaporate almost as quickly as the ***** government prints it. sorry but i just had to say that

Pardon? I am not envious of these yachts. I do not like them - which is totally different.

If I was given one I would sell it and use the money to buy a more traditional sailing boat such as a sloop or a ketch. Something that I find more aesthetically pleasing.
