The YNROHT path redux? Possible?

Yes, the thorny path backwards.

I am planning to be coming back from the carribean in the spring, and wondering on my options. I can't seem to find any information about traveling east to west through the "thorny path", only information going west to east.

Is it easier? I assume the wind is behind you going this direction in May?

yes it is easy with the prevailing wind, with the current and probably not worth writing a book about it as long as you are OK with a few nights at sea.

Here is our route from early 2012, we split this in three portions due to fronts passing or waiting for wind. Plotted on a pilot chart for May
  • East Puerto Rico - Turks & Caicos
  • TC - Cay Sal Bank
  • Cay Sal - Miami
Plenty of other routes possible, including many possible stops in the DR or Bahamas.

Thanks, that's very useful.

How did you generate that map, very nice!
