Sailboat to use for the right person

Ok here goes. This is a crazy thought I know so please keep the negatives away.
Health issues say maybe no sailing for the next 6 months. Gaitweigh is in Miami right now and I'm up north. She hates sitting around on a mooring and I toyed with selling but not quite ready to sell yet. So I'm thinking of letting a qualified person use her for the next 6 months or so. Just a thought no details worked out in my mind yet so if your looking to try the live aboard lifestyle this could be for you

I looked for awhile for just that sort of setup. I was a professional that traveled a lot to California and thought the live aboard rental would be perfect for me. I could try out the lifestyle and someone would get their slip fees paid in the process. Never found one, but I did manage to borrow an RV for six months to see if I would kill Diverdude living in such a confined space. (He's still kickin'...for now). So I wish you luck and think its doable, albeit with some risk. If you don't have someone in mind, and dont get any bites at the marina office, I might recommend contacting nursing agencies. Lots of nurses travel and might be interested.

Re: Sailboat to use for the right person

i know quite a few roberts designed boats that are most impressively gorgeous and exceptionally good sailing shiplets.... the designs are good, and many are out here cruising currently.
i do not see where capttman deserved the negative comments and i consider those negative comments to be rude and not within the parameters of this forum..

tonys cool idea is viable for those wanting to see if they like life over on that side of earth before buying their own boat, also.

tman--heal well and soon.

why not donate the boat. solves the issue of custom boats being worth much less, and solves the issue of you not wanting to sell. many good charity's that will take it for free.

Just ignore and don't respond.

My friends have a gorgeous Robert's 53 professionally built. Endorfin. I love their boat. Zee met them in PV a couple season's ago. I keep hoping they out it up for sale when I have some $$.

Re: Sailboat to use for the right person

BTW, Capttman there are always Navy/military peeps looking to rent short-term.

I sailed a Bruce Roberts 53 for 3 years in the Indian Ocean. I still remember her very fondly. She was owner built, gorgeous and took anything thrown at her. Generalizations are for the weak minded.

Re: Sailboat to use for the right person

I have just cleaned up a bunch of "not-niceness", and related posts. Being nice is one of the rules here, if you didn't know.

If you have an issue with anything you see here on Cruisers Forum, please don't reply in kind (or in unkind), just report it to the friendly moderators by clicking the triangular '!' icon. And if another member is really annoying you, you can always put them on "Ignore" -- click on their username and see the drop-down menu.
