Super simple removable forestay

What do you think of this? I've been tempted to install a removable headstay on my Islander Bahama 30. This guy's process is very simple. Is a mast hound appropriate for an inner forestay? Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this, would be great if this was workable.

You tube video link works. So, with no support from below, your deck with be flexing under the loads imposed by a storm sail in heavy winds. A simple tie rod could solve this problem and tie the deck into the hull. I don't like his compromise or the potential for serious stress. Err to the conservative if you want to get it right.

Got it to view....
The mast hound is OK. The lower structure is rather flimsy--you'd do well to check the break loads on the deck padeye--I know Wichard makes different grades of them, and sadly the stronger ones tend to show rust earlier.
Also, I second the above poster's comment on making sure the deck can handle that sort of load.

There appears to be a through-bolt at the very upper end of the hound. I confess I can't stand YouTube and just skim, but unless it was taken out later, which would be folly, it would make the installation fine.
