Mexico, West Coast to San Diego

can anyone advise weather + wind likely to encounter early in the new year. Also distances between safe anchorages and Mexican formal entry/exit ports

Hi Meyermm,Have only just put new thread on to seek opinions on the GRIB US FILES forecasts.Only recently loaded program and am in the process of assessing same so far have been impressed.To answer your question on future weather ,the most important part of boating,best to look at all available weather forecasts and then make up your mind if its safe for your type of vessel and experience to leave port and plan ahead for any changes that can occur.Lets hope we get some good feedback from Grib files no doubt you should load same .

I suppose you know that the sail from Cabo to SD is called the Baja Bash and it is accrureatley named. There is a run of 150 to 175 miles where you have no anchorages from Cabo North. After that you can get by with day sails. Pilot Chart says North to NW winds about 70% of the time. Wind says force three and four. Charlie's Charts of Mexico and a new book by Pat Raines are the stock and trde for that part of the coast.
