Main sail cover how to change the color

I have a question can anyone tell me if I can change the color in a mainssil cover? Someone's giving me a boom cover for my boat but it's the wrong color I was wondering if I could dye it from to change it to the color I need it.

These are usually made from sunbrella, or similar material, that do not hold aftermarket dyes very well.

If it is sunbrella, then you won't be dying it, part of the appeal is that it is impervious to almost any staining. If it is white canvas... Maybe.
