Hello & happy xmas/new year. I am traveling from Australia to the British Virgen Islands to crew a boat from there through the Panama Cannel, across the Pacific Ocean to Tahiti starting next April. I am looking for recommendations for personal insurance as i am having trouble finding a company that will cover the blue water section of the trip. Thanks in advance to those that may be able to help.

It is not clear what type of insurance you are trying to find. Health insurance? Insurance for personal belongings? Something else?

I am after what is called travel insurance here in Australia. Insurance that will cover medical expenses, loss of property, costs associated with trip delays etc while I am out of Australia.

Try World Nomads, they have travel insurance for up to 12 months at a time.

It can be tricky to get personal coverage that extends to long ocean crossings, I was never able to get it , most health care insurance has provisions that effectively don’t provide cover for such eventualities unless tacked onto a yachts policy
