Breathing air hose should be designed for that purpose (and yours is not.) There is a mil-spec for breathing air hose for a reason. God only knows what you're getting breathing through pneumatic tool hose.

Exactly. Could be picking up toxic fumes or not but why take the chance?

There are things and places where you can go cheap and to money and places where you could but shouldn't. Diving gear of any variety is life support and not a place to go cheap.

My mistake and apologies. But my comment about using pneumatic tool hose stands. It's a bad idea.

Checked out the Thomas. Wow are these things expensive.

Asked google. Grainger, Zoro, and a few more. All well north of $800.

I guess all things considered not that much say compared to a Brownies system that goes for a few grand. Was just mentally comparing to a cheap, Home Depot compressor that starts around $130 and goes up so was thinking a good one might be $4-$500.

Have a dozen regulators so good there but another $100 or so for a hose.

Re: Hookah System?

Just had a popup from a place called SMC Pneumatics for $344. $500 cheaper than anyone else. Makes me suspicious.

I’ve never paid more than $350-$400 for the 1207PK80. And I’ve bought plenty of them.

In any event- cheap isn't good and good isn't cheap.

Besides the fact that at $250 the compressor is likely guaranteed to have been made using low-quality, low durability components, their reservoir tanks are made of mild steel and were probably already rusting by the time these videos were made. Don't do it, folks. If you're going to DIY a hookah that incorporates a reservoir, that reservoir needs to be made of stainless steel, aluminum or plastic. Or better yet, buy a high quality compressor that doesn't require a reservoir.

Wouldnt a SCUBA Snookah be the cheapest safest solution?

Doesn't mean he's not using a crappy POS air compressor in his hookah rig.

Re: Hookah System?

Few years ago was needing a hookah, locally there was much enthusiasm for a type of compressor deemed safe. It was a 12V system designed for pumping up 4x4 tyres, and I bought a hose from a dive shop along with reg that had a lower operating pressure.

Well it worked sort of got hot then failed, pulled it apart found some plastic under a reed valve, worked again. But not for long couldn't get the mass flow rate. This type has no cutout, no reservoir, got too hot. A pressure cutout switch is really preferred but that would limit me to AC supply (110 or 240v) and need a reservoir, I'm limited to a 2kva inverter. Think 1HP will work, but not sure.
