Help! I'm Looking for a Charter Catamaran in La Paz, MX

A group of 8 to 10 of us are looking for a 40 foot or larger catamaran to charter from La Paz, Mexico end of April, 2012 for 5 to 7 days.

Would prefrer Lagoon as they are familiar, but would consider others. I checked The Moorings, but they only show Monohulls.

If anyone has knowledge of how I can locate a cat for charter, or knows of one that I can contact please let me know. I've searched the internet, but it really seems like a limited charter fleet in La Paz.

Any catamaran owners that are interested in chartering their yacht? I have bareboat experience on mono and cat and can provide sailing resume. The crew I am with has sailed monos and cats with me before as well. Mature & responsible group.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

We used to cruise out of LaPaz. Moorings had a LOT of cats there. Got an e-mail a few months ago from a friend who occasionally works for Moorings and he talked about taking one of their cats out the previous week. If they're not showing on their web site, it's probably a glitch -- call them!

True 'dat. When we were cruising the La Paz area in the spring, they used to anchor those Moorings cats RIGHT on top of us wherever we went. So yeah, there's plenty of cats for rent.

Yes indeed, called them up this morning and looks like we'll do the Moorings 4300 catamaran. Still not sure why their website doesn't bring up the Cats in La Paz, but all good now.

Appreciate the info guys. Have a good one!

You can try this fellow, Bob Smith, email svpantera@yahoo.com. Bob has a 42" cat Pantera in the bay at La Paz and I believe he would be willing to organize a trip. I have been trying to contact him without success so he might be home in Canada for the holidays. If you do find him pass on my name and ask him to contact me. I'm trying to organize the same kind of trip around March 12 to 15 for 4 guys so if you find someone I'd appreciate a heads up. Thanks and good luck to you.

Jay, we are booked with The Moorings. Reputable company and much less concern of a problem on the La Paz end resulting in the trip being a no go when we arrive to take out the boat.

Good Luck and Welcome to CF. You will find lots of good people, info and advise here!

One other item is I bought the Sea of Cortez a Cruiser's Guidebook by Breeding and Bansmer to help with our trip planning and it is very impressive. I'd highly recommend getting a copy of this for anyone sailing this area. In fact, it's a great book to learn about the area and enjoy reading at home, has great photography too.
