So there I was, winds gusting to 8, waves cresting at 1.5 ft! My first sail on my new to me Catalina 30. Not only my first sail on a new boat, my first time piloting a boat in and out of a marina on any boat. I relied on all of my experience doing the ASA class on the Flying Scot, and kept her upright and off of objects.

I learned a ton though. I am not ready to single hand a Catalina 30 (I did have others on board, but tried to do as much myself as possible). The bimini is awesome for keeping the sun off of you, but sucks for seeing the windex and tale-tells. Navionics on a tablet is great for situational awareness.

If you head into the fairway to my slip, it is on the opposite side of propwalk. It only took me two tries to get into the slip, but I was very grateful to have others onboard once I was in between the pilings.

This was yesterday. I really wanted to go out again today, and walked the docks looking for someone to go with me, but unfortunately, no one was available.

Sounds like you are moving in the right direction. Working up a crew list is always a good idea. Did you keep any contacts from your ASA class? Maybe your instructor could point some people your way if they're looking to get more experience.
