We arrived at Cocoa Village two days ago.
It is quaint, and has an excellent
hardware store with good quality tools and a great selection of stainless and bronze fasteners.
The anchorage is free, though the bottom is soft mud. Just let your
anchor work its way down over several days, rather than using the
engine to set it right off.
The village provides free day use docks for dinks and yachts, and there are
water taps, though you must haul jugs.
The post office is within easy walking distance, and the four major US banks have offices here.
The local bus system has connections to Melbourne, Titusville, the VA clinic, Port Canaveral, and Cocoa Beach. A monthly pass cost me $17.
It is easy to get a bicycle ashore, and I am looking forward to using mine to see the sights and get exercise.
Nights are chilly now. Temps ~ 10 C - 55 F. And blankets are great to snuggle under.
I filled a
shopping cart with veggies a cheese, a sausage, tonic
water and a loaf of crusty bread for $75
The local Uhaul offers economical refills of LPG bottles.
The Social
Security office is about 4 miles away on US 1 just north of the DCFS office.
