Concordia Yawl - what size soft shackles?

Hi,

I have a friend of a friend who is looking to buy their boss some soft shackles for their Concordia Yawl. They don't know what is an appropriate size. They are thinking 5/16 foe the rope size.

Any Advice on what size would be good for this boat? Both the diameter of rope and diameter of shackle.

Thanks

I always go up a size, They don't weigh much and that allows for a bit of uv degradation!

What would be a useful size in diameter? I'm just a maker and not a sailor. At least yet

Size and diameter depend on what the shackles are for. A spinnaker? A genoa? Reefing toggles of some sort? Lee cloths for the Concordia berths? Topping lifts? Like Jedi suggests, the question is overly vague. We need more information to provide a realistic answer.

The friend doesn't know anything about the boat. She is looking for a gift so he can use it on the boat. So looking for ideas to buy such as, a pair or two pairs of x size shackles that would work on this x part of the boat. If it is for the spinnaker, what rope diameter and size shackle? Etc. Something that can use 2 or 4 shackles.

Sorry I don't have much info
Thanks

Drink coasters might be more useful. We've also had friends give us cocktail napkins with the boat's name on them. A quart of varnish might come in handy, though some owners are quite picky about what they use. Sandpaper (#220) might be well-received. Concordias have been around since the 1950's, so will probably already have most of the gear they need on board. If you really have to provide soft shackles, 5/16" line with 2" openings will probably be useful somewhere.
