Clipper Around-the-World Yacht Race

Anyone taken part in the Clipper around the world yacht race? I know someone that did it a few years ago and he had an amazing experience. I was tempted to take part in it but decided the money was better spent in lessons and saving for a future boat for myself ($10,000 for the month of training in England, flights, and 4-5 week trip at sea). Plus, you have no say in deciding which boat, skipper, and crew you will be stuck with.

It's for amateurs, although you do need a month of training.

Just curious of others' experiences...
