clean dirty water hose or replace ?

The water hose from my water tank is mildewed and dirty.


Shall I clean it or does it need to be replace ?


If clean how do I get the dirt and mildew inside the hose out ?

How long is the run, just how dirty, and how old the hose? Probably up to you whether you'd choose to clean or replace. If a cleaning is order I use a gentle soap (or food grade acid wash such as starsan) and something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CJ4NW7H...&pd_rd_w=5yDp3

If the inside of your hose is dirty then so is your tank. I would suggest a good chemical treatment. As a first step I would add bleach to the tank and fill it up. I would ten run every tap until you get bleach smell, top up the tank again and let it all sit for a day or more. Then drain it all fill the tank up with fresh water , drain it through every tap, top up the tank again and let it sit another day. Lastly, drain the tank one more time, fill it up with fresh water and you are done.
This will get rid of any mildew or other living stuff. Dirt itself is not an issue unless you feel it is an issue.
I like having a charcoal filter in front of the galley tap. It filters dirt and also any chlorine that remains in the water. I add a small amount of bleach to my water tanks on a yearly basis to keep strange growth under control. The charcoal filter removes it before food use.

Price the hose, price your time to clean it or replace it. I'd just replace it... it's cleaning the tank decently I'd focus on. I replaced my tank too, but it was just an off the shelf 16gal one for cheap and was easy to remove/replace.

If you intend to consume water from the tank & system, I would definitely replace the hose & clean or replace any other part of the system including the tank. Only you can decide which is the most economical action for you.

How many gallons is your water tank? I had the same problem. I used bleach in the water lines to repeatedly flush it out. Also, you're going to have to unscrew and change the screen filter in your water pump because it's going to be clogged with pieces of mildew and algae. The problem, in my opinion, can be eliminated once you clean it by keeping bleach in the water at a low level, and always having a full water tank. The algae grows Where there is an air water interface. If the tank is full when she sits, it mitigates the production of growth. I have a 75 gallon water tank and I put 4 oz of bleach in there with every fill-up. I have a 16 oz water bottle that I fill 12 oz of water first then I add 4 oz of bleach to the water. Then I put that mixture through the deck fill into the primary water tank.
