Cape Coral Bridge Height

Hi just wondering if anyone has past under the Cape Coral Bridge with an air draft of 55ft as I see this is the vertical clearance listed for the bridge. I was looking at passing through with a FP Mahe 36 air draft of 54ft 9".Thanks & Aloha.

Re: Cape Coral Bridge Height

I have no direct knowledge of that bridge, but if your vertical clearance is that close, try and go under at extreme low tide. Well, as long as theirs enough water under your keel to do so

You might be OK, on a new moon low tide. The second half of the bridge is lower than the first half. That will be metal to metal so you need to take all lights and fitting of the top of the mast.

You can tie alongside the bridge and climb the ladder to sight your clearance for the second half. Fun to do at 2 am with a sleeping toddler on board!

Re: Cape Coral Bridge Height

BTW, the clearance on the chart is way off. It is more like 52' at average tide.

Re: Cape Coral Bridge Height

Our Seawinds mast was 52'. We passed through at a medium tide and it was pretty close. Maybe you could make it on a REALLY low tide?

Re: Cape Coral Bridge Height

55.5' used to be able to make it until they rebuilt the east span. Maybe they have done west by now. Used to be all concrete, but east was redone with lower steel beams. Check the tide tables for the lowest tide over 2 months. I had to tilt the mast after the bridge rebuilt. Also, the west side of I 75 is nearly as low.

Re: Cape Coral Bridge Height

Your right, the I75 bridge was low as well. When we went down river it was at low tide and our antenna never touched the spans. Height to the top of our antenna was about 55'
