Why would anyone want to rush through this beautiful system. We have been in this system since May 20th and still have not seen everything there is to see.
Agreed. My slip neighbor just brought a boat back from Annapolis and met you guys on the way. I've already told him he has to go back and re do the canals at some point considering how quickly he rushed through to get the new boat home.

Short answer? NO.
I wouldn't touch an older boat with an original Atomic.
They were great when new--notoriously troublesome when old.

Yup, that's them. The guy who bought the Bayliner is a couple slips over to one side and the guy that went with him to bring it home is right next to us on the other side.

I want to see if I like the lifestyle.
The Atomic 4 is a fine salt water engine. Damn near indestructible if you take care of it. Had one in my old Irwin 28’

We just hit the Hudson this morning.
It took us from May 20th to get from Oswego to the Hudson.
Truly the only way to do the NY State Canal system

In the same creek as Hop-O-Nose is a place called Riverview. They pulled my mast this spring, and did a pretty decent job. However, they quoted $4.50 a foot for the mast, and charged me $7. No explanation for why they charged almost double. The cost may be reasonable, but I don't like being quoted one price and charged a dramatically different one. At Oswego, they quoted $5 a foot to put it up, and charged $5 a foot.

Like every other aspect of life ... Caveat emptor.
We just passed Cooemans where they also drop and raise masts.

PS. I've even seen it done with a block and tackle from the bridge at Oswego.

Did you read the earlier part of this thread? The OP already owns an Endeavor 32 with an Atomic 4. He is asking about its capabilities for passages like the Erie Canal and the ICW. He is not asking if he should buy a boat so equipped,

Re: Can one take an endeavor 32 out the Erie with an atomic gas motor

Having been a proud owner owner of an atomic 4 engine for over 30 years with a complete overhaul blue printing and balancing I can highly recommend it for anything that might come it’s way! If you want to find more about your atomic 4 go to the website for AFOURIANS website . You will be enlightened and amused !

Re: Can one take an endeavor 32 out the Erie with an atomic gas motor

Years ago we had an Irwin 27 and made two round trips from South Florida to Maine using sails and an Atomic 4 engine. Lots of motoring in the ditch and never a peep from the engine. If your engine is well maintained, I can see no reason it should not serve you well.
Have fun!
