Brewers Greenwich Bay RI

Does anyone keep their boat at Brewers Greenwich Bay, R.I.? I'm thinking of keeping my boat there this winter and they give a 5% discount both to the new boat owner and anyone who referred them. I figure we can both save a few bucks.

I'm at brewer's Cowesett, next door, and would be happy to refer you (I already qualified for my 5% and honestly, they should give it to you just for asking if you offer to pay upfront right now).

Dear Cuttyhunk,

I called Brewer's and they said they won't give me the refer a friend discount without the name of a current customer. Would you please send me you name so that I can get the discount.

Be careful when dealing with Brewers. They tend to hit you later on with a pile of undisclosed add ons. Check whether they are including haulout/wash/stands/electricity/launch in the base fee.

Unlikely.

There are several alternatives that are more reasonable in the area that are easy to deal with. I wouldn't write anything negative either way but would rather be contacted by private message if you want to contact me. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Re: Brewers Greenwich Bay RI

Brewer's has never socked me with undisclosed add-ons, and I've kept a boat there since 2008. The $40/ft is an honest number, including all. They will give me a laundry list of things I should consider doing. In my case, they know full well I will do those things myself, but they don't mind, I've got more ABYC certs than most of their workers. They are not cheap, it is true. They are also not psychos (other yard nearer my home) or untrustworthy (other marina also nearer my home).

AND their bathrooms are clean and their equipment is in good shape. They use an appropriate number of boat stands (or more) and they have a pool (at least at Cowesett). They have never given me ANY grief about the many jobs I've done on my boats over the years. I no longer stay there in the summer but will continue to keep the boat hauled there over the winter.

I have to agree..! I also do most of my own work and have stored for many years - many boats with them. The staff treat customers with respect, follow through with storage contracts and don't sneak in additional or unexpected expenses. On the rare occasion when something happens (scuffed paint, etc.) from their error, they always take care of it. I've stored from Essex, Ct to where my boat is currently - in Maine. Good equipment - knowledgable staff, clean facilities. I'd feel comfortable leaving my boat in their care anywhere. A little more expensive? Yes, but not outrageous!
