Our little guy has been cruising and living aboard for over a year...I think he loves this life. When we first found him at rescue league he looked like he had been washed down a drain, so we named him scupper :-)

Those are fantastic names for boat dogs, very cute dogs as well.

But our friends purchased a ducktrolling retriever as a puppy (full grown <40 lbs) to sail around the caribbean islands once she reached 6 months. She did great (similar friendly nature of the Golden). Easy to get on and off the boat, swam with the dolphins when tethered to the boat, and trained quickly to use the wooden deck of the 36' Cheoy Lee for the bathroom. Smaller dog means less food to store and smaller clean up. Great cruising dog...

do you know if the retriever required an import permit every time they moved from one island to another?
