Re: Australia Day Beer Special
When living in China that Pabst would come into the local market occasionally but was less than $20 Aud per carton my Canadian friends there said it tasted like something starting with P but??
How much is it in the US.
I notice in some OZ bottle shops Chinese Tsingtao that I used to buy for about $12 or less a carton but here over $60.Pretty good profit margins methinks.

Re: Australia Day Beer Special
Most imported beer is very dear over here. But, it is sometimes worth paying the extra rather than having to drink some of the rubbish that passes for beer over here.

In US $18-$20 for case of 24. And it taste just as bad in the US.
In contrast, wine here in Australia is dirt cheap and fairly good.

Re: Australia Day Beer Special
Yes I better qualify here, the American beer that I have tasted is not very good either, and very weak. Amazed at that, normal strength beer from there would be called mid strength at best here.

Would rather drink soda water, it has more taste and does not make you shudder.

Re: Australia Day Beer Special
San Miguel is Ok, used to drink that back in the seventies. It was trendy in Sydney then.

Re: Australia Day Beer Special
Have not had Miguel for years, must try it again. I do not drink anything below 4.5%, not because I am a pisshead, well, maybe, but they have not yet made a beer that I have tasted that has the right flavour below that. I try and taste something different every week. Some of the smaller breweries here make some good stuff but the big boys, only make stuff for hot days to drink quick, not to savour the flavour.

Most of my Australian mates here in Subic have switched to drinking San Mig Zero (alcohol-free)
I think that says something about how much beer Australians friends like to drink…

Re: Australia Day Beer Special
What? No beer buzz? Aussies could be excommunicated for that. By the way, I am a pom who lives here, so not a genuine Aussie, otherwise I would be defending the stuff they make here with more gusto, because that is what you are supposed to do
This thread could be a record beater, Beer, what is more important than that?
