Re: A Cruising base?

Owning a island may be the pervue of the rich (at least for the taxes)! But we all need a base. I am looking at a number of properties that have a deep dock or one can be put in, and then place a small cabin and lots of fruit trees and gardens.
Pot can be legally grown where I am looking, but I am not in that market. You have to go into town for that...

I could see myself as a Lesbian. I've always thought I had serious Lesbian tendencies.
If I had the dosh, I'd be a buyer.

I can see it now Weavis as absolute dictator of Weavis island. Crazed with power, crazed with rum...exhausted from debauchery... Impressing unsuspecting yotties into the Weavis navy. Oh the humanity! This cannot come to pass.

Im impressed with the idea of debauchery. If only I had the energy for it.

You could always find an investment partner to handle the debauchery side of the business.

Why does Butthead come to mind?

Re: A Cruising base?

I wonder what the tax liabililty is?

Declaring independence would be my first step.. only the island is a touch close to the Main island to be free of the worry of armed reprisal.

I can see that upon declaration, I would be invaded. They would drink my bar dry and then remonstrate with me in a Greek manner and reclaim my kingdom for Greece.

Back to the drawing board.

Rats!

I suppose the beds will be from IKEA and built of tongue and groove !
Seriously, make lots of money by declaring independence from Greece, build a bank and turn it into an 'offshore tax haven'.

You dont need beds in a bar... the patrons have their own beds aboard.

i dunno....how well did that work out for the cypriots? This whole "declaring independence" thing can cause some issues. Just ask George Washington, or a few thousand Irish.

If it was as easy as declaring oneself independent, half the USA would have left the union by now.

I'll import the fresh veges and fruits. Maybe even the occasional goat (DOJ are you listening?)

Re: A Cruising base?

Weavis,

Your plans remind me of a hilarious movie, The Mouse That Roared.

Like the plot plan in the movie, You could declare war on the USA, surrender, and then get redevelopment aid to make Isle Of Weavis a new Monaco (with a fabulous boat harbor), with a primo site reserved for the pub/palace.
