Weather situation

We're waiting some weeks to have a good weather conditions for sailing from portorico to Brunswick, roughly 8/10 days, but all forecasts show daily important changes. Wind from NE, became NW from one day to another. Just to know, because I'm newbie of this coast: it is because is not the right period yet? May have I wait until May?
Thanks and happy Easter.
